Living the spontaneity of life
My story of getting admission to IIT Kanpur

Life has been so happening lately that I almost forgot to share that I got into IIT Kanpur! 🎉
Choosing between IIT Guwahati and IIT Kanpur was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made. IIT Guwahati’s DoD (Design Department) is known to be next-level, rivaling even Bombay’s. But there was something about Kanpur, a place with a massive legacy, far from home, unfamiliar and challenging.
Life often keeps us so busy that we barely get time to reflect on the journey that brought us here, the small steps, the pivotal moments, and the countless decisions along the way. Funny how one decision can pivot your entire trajectory into the unknown.

Choosing Kanpur was choosing the hard path:
A new state.
New faces.
No familiar ground to fall back on.
I knew this decision would break the systems I had carefully built over the past year. Plans, goals, mental models, everything would take a hit.
But something about starting from scratch again felt right. Difficult, yes. Fearful, definitely. Yet there was a quiet excitement in knowing I’d be building something new, a fresh beginning, a clean slate.
Maybe this decision was wrong. Maybe it wasn’t. But who knows? For now, I’m determined to make the best of it.
What made it even crazier was the timing. Alongside applying for CEED-IIT, I also applied for JET-FTII SRFTII (FILM SCHOOL). And just when I thought life couldn’t get more confusing, I found out I’d been shortlisted for JET too!
Now, the question looms larger than ever:
Do I pursue what promises a "proper job," stability, and structure? Or do I go all in with my love for video editing?
Both paths serve different purposes for me. A design degree fuels my multidisciplinary side, letting me explore and not be boxed into a single tag or job. On the other hand, video editing is where my heart feels at home, it’s my creative outlet, my passion, my voice.
So here I am, on the edge of uncertainty. Confused? A little. Excited? Absolutely. Because no matter what path I choose, I’m here to create meaning out of it. Here’s to embracing the hard, taking risks, and building a life that’s uniquely ours.
